“ 7-11 in Warrenton, VA at 0500 or Old Rag mtn trailhead at 0600. ”
Join CJ and beat the traffic and the crowds for one of the best hikes in Virginia! The Old Rag Mountain hike (3291 ft) is 7 mile loop round trip at an elevation of 2200 ft and is one of the most spectacular mountains in the Northern Virginia Blue Ridge. Old Rag is the quintessential hike in Virginia offering switch backs, boulder hopping, scrambling for 1 mile over and through boulders but the payoff is SOO worth it! AND NO CROWDS!! Don't Forget to pack your breakfast/lunch for a picnic on the mountain! And, still get back in enough time to enjoy your Saturday evening!
We got to see the spectacular views from Old Rag two weekends ago at Sunrise in our 4am hike from our backpacking spot to Old Rag and it was AWESOME!!!! (Check out pretty picture...)
