Here's an article that ran about Crossfit. Crossfit is a workout program that I've been following since January. I enjoy the variety and challenge it offers.

How often do you do the workouts? They're pretty intense workouts that take a while to complete, right?

Most workouts only take 20 - 30 minutes tops. The goal is to complete the workout as quickly as possible with as little rest as necessary. Crossfit is very popular with law enforcement and martial artists, because it doesn't take long and focuses on performance not ascetics. Not that you won't end up looking good too. The actors from the movie 300 did crossfit style workouts to prepare for their combat training. It's designed specifically with athletes who participate in other sports in mind.
If you follow the site they use a 3 on 1 off schedule. I usually lag behind a few days so I can make it fit my schedule better. All the workouts can be scaled back when you're starting out. They even have Crossfit for kids. |

I'm doing either crossfit or p90x after I do my triathlon in June. PT, I think you have them both. Do you have a preference and if so, which one and why?
Thanks! |

I have the P90x videos, but I haven't done any of them or followed the program.
If you don't belong to a gym it could be hard to do some of the crossfit stuff. Some of the days they have you doing heavy weights and depending on you experience with free weights and Olympic lifting it might be difficult, but you could always substitute for something else that day. Plus I'd be happy to help if you had any questions. I'd say give crossfit a try first for 30 days and see how it goes. |
