“ 5:45 PM - meet at Carrs Huffman, by the Recycling Bins, at to carpool. If you need to do this please note in SSVP your bike and bike rack status. 6:30 PM - meet at parking lot in Indian on the right immediately after crossing the creek. ”
WHAT:
Bike ride on the Indian-Bird-Gird paved bike trail.
Indian to Bird Point is 14.2 miles round trip
Make that 26 miles round trip if you go all the way to the trail's end at Girdwood and back.
Hopefully we can get folks - at least some - to agree on a place to stop along the trail for a picnic (say maybe at the Bird Point parking lot? I do not know the trail; will have to ride it between now and then).
I want to get month of May activities off the dirt trails while they dry out so I am going to suggest at least this one week that we pedal on pavement then see later in the month how Heart 'n Lung sort of trails are drying out.
WHEN:
Meet at Carrs Huffman at 5:45 PM if you want to carpool or
Meet at Indian Creek parking area, on the right after crossing the creek in time to start riding just after 6:30
WHERE:
Park at Mile post 103 on the Seward Highway; just east of Indian Creek and just past Turnagain House restaurant.
We will pedal the paved bike trail for whatever distance you choose to go. Distance may be determined by wind in the face. But remember a wind in the face on the way out will (sometimes
) be at your back on the return trip.
BRING:
-- A bike, roller blades, roller skis or other means of bike path roll-a-motion
-- WEAR A HELMET. THIS IS REQUIRED ON ALL ADVENTURERS BIKE, ROLLER BLADE, etc OUTINGS
-- Clothing assortment for wind, rain, heat, cold, dust, sun
-- Something at least for yourself and preferably to also share for a group picnic somewhere along the path
Squemish about riding in the rain - me too. Check conditons at Weather Underground
Or look at the DOT web cam for Potter Weigh Station
